WGI is a multidisciplinary consulting firm with thirteen offices nationwide specializing in engineering, surveying, geospatial mapping, planning, land development, environmental services, and parking consulting services.  In 2017, WGI ranked #252 on the ENR's list of the Top 500 Design Firms. We are seeking a Structural Engineer with 0 to 5 years of professional experience to be part of our Structures team in our Fort Lauderdale office.

In this position you will assist in the development of transportation design projects for clients such as FDOT and municipalities.  A strong background in Florida DOT design policies and procedures is preferred. The candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from a number of delivery methods including conventional publicly bid projects and design build. Over the last two decades, WGI has delivered a variety of transportation projects including some of the largest and most complex interstate projects in the state of Florida.  As a firm we continue to grow and look forward to the opportunity to add talented engineers who are eager to work on exciting projects and grow professionally themselves.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering designs and plans for various structures including reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation related structures. 
  • Assist in the creation of engineering documents including Bridge Development Reports, Bridge Load Rating Calculations, and Design-Build Technical Proposals and graphics.

 Job Qualifications Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college (Masters preferred).
  • Florida Engineering Intern or Professional Engineering Registration
  • Proficiency in Structural Engineering Software including Leap Bridge, Conspan, RC-Pier, STAAD, MDX, Midas, FB-MultiPier, MathCAD, and Microstation (Geopak knowledge a plus).
  • Familiarity with FDOT plans preparation criteria and design standards.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and work on large multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
